I am moving to Jacksonville from Gladstone probably next summer. I have two older homes for sale in a quiet neighborhood near Little Bay De Noc (the home im in has a beautiful view of the lake) the other is about a block away. They both need work but are solid older homes of which ive already done substantial upgrades. FSBO cheap and I cut deals for all city-data members

Delta county, I love the Escanaba Gladstone area. The only drawback is a weak economy doesnt produce alot of jobs which isnt a problem for you. On the northern end of Lake Michigan and Green bay this area has more fresh water shoreline than any county in the country. 7 Major rivers pass through the county on their way to Lake Michigan. Two peninsulas, Stonington and Garden surround Big and Little Bay De Nocs some of the prettiest lake and Bay views on the planet. Hiawtaha Natl. forest in the north and alot of dairy farms in the south. No lake effect snow, that breaks off right around Trenary. Winters are tough but not as bad as in some places further north. The Escanaba Gladstone area doesnt have as good of Malls and selection of restaraunts and so called entertainment but its adequate. I always do the 2 hour drive to Green Bay when I want to do real shopping or see a concert . Ive always thought the people in this area are very relaxed and easy to get along with. You might run into some rednecks in the small towns but that would be an exception rather than the rule. Beautiful area nice people and one of the cheapest places to live in the US which attracts alot of retirees on fixed incomes to Delta county.

Jacksonville sounds a lot warmer then Michigan. I've had relatives move to Florida last year. They love it! They do miss the season changes though. We may have to petition a state name change to "Florigan"

Thanks for the offer. We think the Marquette/Ishpeming area offers much more to do. Also we have found out the Sawyer airport is served by three airlines vs only one for Escanaba. Question: Did you know Jacksonville is the murder capitol of Florida?
