just moved to this area and trying to find a decent apartment in a safe neighborhood. I am trying to find a one/two bedroom apt for 500-600 range in a good/safe neighborhood in east lansing/lansing/okemor. Open to any suggestions in holt/mason/williamston as well and also looking for suggestions whether house/apt is better. Any suggestion??

I guess it is worth mentioning that I am trying to stay away from the student party places just next to MSU even though my commute is going to be to MSU for my job...

There was another strand very similar to yours. Someone suggested the studio apartments on Coolidge Road (near where Frandor/Grand River/Saginaw all intersect). Perhaps they will post on your thread. Otherwise search back a few threads to find out more about apartments in the area.

There are plenty of places to live on that budget, depending on what you want.

If you want to be away from students, look further from campus. If you want to be close to the buzz out in Okemos, look in that direction. If you need to be close to campus, but away from students, look at the north side of East Lansing (Coolidge to Hagadorn around Lake Lansing Road), although I'd say avoid Chandler Road (Abbott north past Lake Lansing), as that's ALL students.

You'll be hard pressed to find a 2-bed for $5-600, unless you head down to Holt/Mason/Williamston, but bear in mind that those areas are pretty far out. If you're ok with that, then you can likely find something.

If you have kids, avoid Lansing.

Also take a look at the communities on Marsh Rd / Haslett (just north of the Meridian Mall).
