Hi!
We are also looking at moving to Battle Creek and just read about the crime rate the top ten in the United States, see Battle Creek newspaper... Can anyone clue us in as hubby has a job offer at the Casino? Area to rent a single family home. Thanks in advance!

Can't offer you hard data, but from personal experience with working with Battle Creek students, it's definitely a place with some rough areas. Even for a relatively small metro area, BC students deal with a lot of inner city issues- poverty, gangs, abusive/neglectful parents, the whole gamut. Not quite inner-city Detroit, but no walk in the park either. There are nice areas, though- someone with more experience in the area can probably clue you in to those.
