Some of the best area to photograph farms are in the northwest corner of Lower MI. There are tons of farms in lower Michigan...(LOTS in the thumb) but the beauty of the land in the north makes the farms really stick out.

That was my point Scott ,, the differences, the contrasts. No better photo can be created than one that encompasses several divides and division all in one, it really changes the dept of field, in the minds eye, and in the feel , of an old farmstead, a failed one, mostly because it should have never been there in the first place. There are a lot of these around the UP , one just has to seek them our. Sometimes staying off the beaten path is the best way to find what you are looking for.

Default Fall in Keweenaw peninsula?

Since fall is arriving early this year, does any one have any idea when the fall colors will be at their peak in Keweenaw peninsula, specially Houghton (and near by places) and Copper Harbor?

Thanks.

Default Colors in the U.P.

The best place to track the color change in the Upper Peninsula is at www.superiortrails.com. It has an up to date color report when the colors start changing. It has last year's reports so you can get an idea of a time period from last year. Very good site. Also has good scenic routes to take around Lake Superior. Hope you have a good time. It's gorgeous up here this time of year!

I have heard talk from some people who I talk with on my business Facebook page...who own businesses up there, that the colors may be a bit later then normal this year. Of course that can change very quickly in those parts.

Actually colors are already changing in higher elevations around Marquette.. We can almost guarantee Copper Country is quite the same. Two more weeks and we will be at our peak here.
My early morning walks in the deep woods behind my house is my predictor. The forest floor is already covered with falling leaf's. yes, I also have a great view of the many valleys and hills on the way to Lake Superior, three crow miles away. My house sits on a rock outcropping at 1250 feet. The lake elevation is 650 feet.
