So I live currently in Florida and hate it. Im looking to move to a new state with a friend of mine. Im looking to move more north but im not sure which city or state to move to. I do telemarketing so i would be looking for a place where there is some phone jobs available. Thank you so much for helping with any info you can.

If you go to www.indeed.com and type in "telemarketing" and Detroit, MI - you get about 200 job openings there. I would use a sight like that to get a jump on finding a job.

More of the decision has to do with why do you hate Florida? Are you looking to be someplace colder? Someplace with more strip malls? Some place near fresh water and not an ocean? A place with less eldery people? All kinds of reasons to move - but starting with a job is a good first step.

Royal Oak is typically the area around Detroit where young people live. I'm not sure how much telemarketing pays, but RO is a bit pricey.

IF I was a young person looking to move to Michigan, I would pick Ann Arbor.

Culture, restaurants, entertainment, art, shopping, coffee shops, bistros, education.....you name it and it can be found in Ann Arbor.

This is a college town and it hums with young people and activities. People from all over the world live and go to school here.

Trust me.......you will LOVE Ann Arbor,MI!

If I were a younger person looking to move to Michigan I would seek professional help. But if you are intent on freezing temperatures, 15 days of sun a year and a bar on every corner, it would have to be either Ann Arbor or Novi area. Both have crowds of younger peopel, though Ann Arbor is a bit empty during the summer--but quieter. On the positive side Ann Arbor does have some great street fairs and events through the summer. Novi has Fountain Walk and the eateries / bars.

Ignore anything about Novi being a hip place for young people. Fountain Walk is just a strip mall - no different from Partridge Creek in Macomb County or anywhere else.

If you want SE Michigan, Ann Arbor, Royal Oak, Ferndale or Downtown Detroit. Downtown Grand Rapids is nice on the West Side. Beautiful state and cheap cost of living...

If your looking to move to Michigan and need access to jobs then pick Grand Rapids over southeast Mi. Grand Rapids is a nice city, and its much cleaner than Detroit is. Grand Rapids has a few colleges so if your looking for younger people you will find it in abundence in Grand Rapids. GR is also closer to Lake Michigan, by far west Michigan is a nicer place to be than metro Detroit. Do yourself a favor and forget about southeast Michigan. Too crowded, and just not as nice as the rest of Michigan. The very nicest part of Michigan is northern Michigan but there is no real employment opportunities there. When you get here make sure you check out northern Michigan, a truly beautiful place.
