It seems like I've noticed an unusually large number of Canadian Geese hanging around this year. Anybody else notice anything like that, or any other kind of strange animal activity?
On my daily walk today I ran into a TON of Canadian Geese along my usual route. I don't think I've seen so many in one place!
I took a few pictures.

This must be happening all over North America. Literally 200 feet from where I now type (in a very urban part of the SF Bay Area) one would see what is pictured above. Watch your step!

I used to live in the Soo not far from the river, and I can say the Geese have always been there. They make a real mess too, Geese poop all over everything and no one likes cleaning up after them. I would imagine you are seeing more because of Michigans mild winter this year, less were killed off. I miss living in the Soo but I dont miss the mess those geese make, or the seagulls for that matter. Here in the center of the state you see alot less of those kinds of birds.

Right, they migrate, though some do stick around if there is free flowing water, but very few.

The migration seemed late to me this year, but it could have been due to the lack of snow and seemingly long spring that made it seem that way.

I've seen them more often near where I live (suburb northwest of Detroit). They stop by in the parks occasionally. We used to get a lot of seagulls, but they don't come around much any more. We used to have pigeons, but they disappeared completely. The robins came early this year and are very prevalent this year. The little ones are just getting out of the nest and following their parents around to be fed by them. Haven't seen any cardinals or bluejays which we used to see a lot of. Grackles seem more plentiful this year. Sparrow numbers are down. Starlings haven't been around. I know they migrate, but I can't remember when. Maybe I missed them when they passed through town last. We used to have a lot of crows. They must have died out a few years ago with the West Nile virus. Morning doves are still around, but not as many as normal.

We also have a lot of rabbits lately. But the squirrel numbers are diminishing due to the Laotian family down the street.

We don't seem to have as many geese as in previous years. There are a few families of geese at the boat launch in South Haven but much less than usual.
