To permit States to require that any food, beverage, or other edible product offered for sale have a label on indicating that the food, beverage, or other edible product contains a genetically engineered ingredient.

Michigan: Levin (D-MI), Nay Stabenow (D-MI), Nay

U.S. Senate: Legislation & Records Home > Votes > Roll Call Vote

Who's in bed with Monsanto? Apparently Michigan Senators. Either that or they are uneducated on the risks of eating such.......'food'.

You're surprised by this? especially after you watched those religious zealots steam roll that anti-abortion bill through?

At the way things are going, Texas will be more politically progressive than this state.

But as long as the budget is balanced and business owners a happy, all is well in this state.

If I'm not mistaken, even Rand Paul voted with Levin and "Liberal Debbie" to prevent labeling. The Senate is little more than a rogue's gallery nowadays.

So we resort to calling our Senators names such as "uneducated" because we don't agree with a particular vote they took? That's enlightened thinking. And we wonder why 12 year old kids bully 68 yr old bus monitors...

Sometimes I wonder why I even post anything on this board.

GMO's are not an exact science. What happens is they shove genes from any strand of DNA (usually a different SPECIES) into another. What happens is the surrounding genes react. The reaction is uncontrolled and often unknown. What has been observed are super viruses and super bacteria. People have died from these super bugs, but you don't hear much about it as Monsanto is one of the richest and most powerful companies in existence and have no problem paying people off, threatening people, and flat out lying and hiding facts. ~ Seeds of Deception by Jeffrey Smith

Animals that eat GMO corn get fatter, faster. They are prone to foot rot, mastitis, extreme levels of e coli in the digestive tract (which is in the digestive tract at low levels naturally, but we're talking much higher than that), sterility, death, and and array of other fun problems. When given the choice between GMO and non GMO food, animals avoid the GMO food. ~ Food Inc., Seeds of Deception, Pandora's Picnic Basket.

Here's a reason not to eat GMO's: Most other countries in the world, including Europe have banned GMO's. Yet America and Canada (Monsanto's headquarter's and influence) have not. That's because they are getting paid to keep them. This is a fact and you can look this up anywhere yourself.

Animals get sick from eating GMO's (fact). Our country is quickly becoming the sickest nation on the planet (fact). Do the math.

Not exactly..it is not DNA that is being shoved, but chemical fertilizers in the form of ROUNDUP and 2,4-D (essential part of Agent Orange) and people end up ingesting the poisons.

Same is true with Soy beans and Bt cotton. Only now weeds and other insects have adapted to the GMOs and built an immunity to the spliced dioxins and now the GMO manufacturers want to INCREASE the application of poisons and INCREASE the potency of the dioxins--thus why they want to incorporate 2,4-D into our food chain by way of "splicing" the dioxin INTO the food DNA..

It depends on what they are modifying. The SuperSaver Tomato had fish DNA in it. Potatoes....a frog gene. When people died from the Melatonin supplement I believe it was an algae gene that grew into a super bacteria.

Another new story today, almost forgot:

GM grass linked to Texas cattle deaths - CBS News

"The grasshoppers are enjoying it now".....I don't think people realize how bad this stuff is for the food chain. Yeah no big deal, let the grasshoppers die, doesn't affect us right? wrong.

There is nothing stopping people from labeling their products to say that they don't use genetically engineered ingredients.
