Help! Wow! Mortgage insurance company is requesting an additinal 10% down if we live in Midland or an area that is not a resort area. I am not kidding. Also non homestead taxes in Midland will be almost 5k on a non homestead house per year.

It has been almost impossible to buy a second home in Midland.

So now I am considering living in a small resort town on a lake but I would like to be within one hour of my cousin in Saginaw Twshp.

Since the taxes can not be homesteaded, I need to be where taxes are reasonable.

I have thought of Wixom Lake in Billings Twship.

Does anyone have experience with this area? Wixom looks like a pretty lake.

I didn't care for Sanford Lake too much.

Thanks so much for any help!

sorry for typs's ect. I was all set to close on this house and got this news a few hours ago.
