I kind of figured that would be the case. We've still got it pretty nice here on the shore of Lake Michigan. All our Great Lakes deserve praise. What can I say except that Michigan is awesome!

Very cool video but those people on the pier or DUMB. Also not the best judgement to bring your kids down there. 40 degrees, raining, sand shooting into your face, not cool to drag a poor kid into it. I think it's a natural selection thing though. If you're dumb enough to walk out there during that storm, I can't really feel bad if you go in.

I agree pier walking in high waves is not a good idea. I'll take my camera down to the lake in big winds and always discover there is so much sand blowing that I'll risk damage to it.

Back in '67 there were three brothers named Halverson who were jumping waves on the Duluth pier. This was during a record storm about like the one that took our Fitz down. The boys were all swept away into Superior. A rescue was attempted which took the life of yet another man. I always wondered why being close to the shore none of the bodies were recovered, but I guess it's so true that when Superior takes you you're just gone.
