One group of Federal judges just nullified your citizens' wishes for your State's Constitution? I just don't understand whats going on?

Racial issue ? Or is it a Federal/State issue? Look not so much at the topic but the trend...

Remember at one time lynchings, and segregation were legal in some states and the citizens supported both.

Just because a populus votes for something doesn't make it the undisputed law of the land.

"Wow- so much for democratic rule"?

Newflash - The USA isn't a democracy. Not sure where you took civics or American government 101.

Our country is a democractic republic. There is a big difference and it sounds like you're not appreciating it.

A democracy states that majority rules. 51% of people think that all red heads should be beheaded, all red heads are beheaded.

A democractic republic states that the will of the majority rules... unless it tramples a constutionally protected right of the minority. That means the judges (i.e. judicial branch) have a role in protecting the rights of the minority from being trampled by the majority.

PS - Minority is whatever group is the "losing" group not based on racial pigmentation.

I think its high time a state govenor defies some of these edicts from upon high out of Washington. What are they going to do to us?? Send in the army??? Ha I dont think so. Time to re-assert state power in the face of an overreaching federal goverment. They have NO right to tell states how to govern themselves. Arizona just went through this with its immigration law, time to tell big brother NO MORE. The founding fathers put the tenth amendment in there for a reason, lets follow the document they wisely crafted for us.

College admission should not be factored on sex, race or anything other than grades... period. If a person has the grades to get in to whatever college or university program they apply for then they should get in based on those grades alone, not the color of their skin or their sex. "Affirmative action" is nothing more than legalized discrimination. Same goes for jobs as well, if a person isn't qualified by their experience/training, then their color or sex doesn't magically make them the right person to do the job effectively.

Before the whole "rights of the minority" argument gets tossed out again, this isn't about their right to get into college or jobs, it is about the rights of those who qualify to get in. A person (any person) does NOT have the right to a college/university education or a certain job based on their skin tone or genitals; a person earns those things through hard work and effort regardless of skin tone or genitalia.

I don't understand why so many people in Michigan hate the constitution.

Things can't be just because you want them to be. There's a thing called laws that we still abide by in a civil society.

Where in the Constitution is it called out that universities must discriminate to accept less-qualified students?
