If our Governor has his way , to fix our roads taxes on gas will go up and a $120 more per vehicle per year on plates and registration .. plus some sort of apparatus in cars (within the next 10 years for the technology to be created) to determine how many miles you drive . As the Governor said '' you drive more you pay more to use the roads ''

As much as I dislike the Governor and his underhanded dealings I do have to say that reality here when it comes to our infrastructure is not and will not be as you state.
Never has gas taxes, diesel taxes, mileage taxes gone to the fixing of our roads. These taxes create such a huge amount of revenue that the money winds up in general revenue, to be used as the politicians dictate. As to your " apparatus thing "....just what do you think an odometer is anyway ? Been on cars and trucks for over 100 years . If that is not enough for you, there is a think called a "wheel odometer' that bolts onto the hub and counts the Revolving of the wheel which equals miles traveled. These also have been around almost as long as speedos.

'' apparatus in cars (within the next 10 years for the technology to be created) '' most likely electronic and tamper proof .

This came out of the Governor's mouth and everything in my original post is just a proposal

That's not a surprise , the guy is out of touch. As I said before we already have tamper proof electronic speedometers It also illegal to tamper with a cars recorded miles.Every car has a history, it's all there on car fax., don't buy a car without checking the report.

I did read about Ricky's proposals......my view is what happened to all the money collected over the LAST decade that wasn't used for roads??? It's not like there hasn't been a gas tax, diesel tax, etc. Why give any state legislature more money to squander? They won't use it on roads, as another poster mentioned. They didn't over the last decade, so why believe they will in the future? Doesn't matter which party is in the state gov't.
