I can vouch for this as i have a close up view of them from my house. They are still in slow motion as they pass here either on their way to the Battle Creek station ( Then Chicago ) or leaving it headed to Detroit or Lansing. Once they get the rest of the tracks fixed and up to par for high speed ( going to Detroit ) and the trains start moving at a decent clip ( high speed ) i suspect even more will start using it.

If people want something they should be expected to pay the real cost for it, not expect those who do not want to use/enjoy what is being subsidized to foot part of the bill.
Ok, but the transportation network is a public good. Even Adam Smith recognized that the gov't had to maintain the roads.

There should be a bullet train from Chicago all the way up the coast of lake Michigan (the western coast of Michigan). It would have stops in Chicago, New Buffalo, Bridgman, Stevensville, St. Joseph, Lake Michigan Beach, South Haven, Saugatuck, Holland, Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, Muskegon, Whitehall, Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Ludington, Pentwater, Manistee, Arcadia, Frankfort, Glen Arbor Sleeping Dunes, Traverse City, Elk Rapids, Charlevoix, Petowskey, Harbor Springs, Mackinaw City, Sault St, Marie.

The other Line would be Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Midland, Alpena, Rogers City, Tawas. Cheboygan, Mackinaw City.
