I had a Honda CVCC in 1981 and I got run off the road regularly by people who would scream "Buy American ***hole" Eventually someone pushed me off the road and into a tree. My husband and I bought an ISUZU pick up in 89. It cost 10 grand brand new, 4 wheel drive. It is what we could afford and that little truck made it to 200K miles before it died. His cousins that all worked for Ford's wouldnt let us park it in their driveway at the family reunion. lol.

I wasn't living here in the early 80's, but I was living in TX and remember all the displaced auto workers going to Houston. It was a case of people not doing their homework before making a move. Houston was a boom town, but it wasn't a blue collar factory worker kind of town. My own sister tried to tell me that she could make big bucks being a file clerk in TX which I knew wasn't true.
