I have always wanted to go to Grand Island. I don't know anyone that has ever been there, but it seems like it would be a great weekend to spend there with a camera. If you have been there what can you tell me about it? Also how busy is it in mid summer? Are there people trekking everywhere? Or can you count on being away from people?

If the lack of response on this forum says anything. It looks like not many people go there. Thats a good thing.

I have camped out there twice, first time with backpack, second with a kayak. It is beautiful and well worth a trip, especially for photography. Plenty of cliffs, sea caves, an inland lake, beach, lighthouse, and other attributes too numerous to mention.
My trips were in early May, and mid-October, so I cannot speak for the summer crowds. I would imagine in mid summer there would be too many people for my taste.
Grand Island is truly one of Michigan's gems!
