I don't eat fungus, but Mesick isn't that far away. I always loved the idea that they have a motel called the Mushroom Cap Motel.

Yup, we hunt morels in Mesick, Boyne City and in our own back yard in Charlevoix. Good eats!

Did the mushrooming in the early spring . What I really remember is going to the Singing Bridge north of Omer and going Smelt dipping . A fire on the beach , and sitting there till someone would yell THERE RUNNING . Fun getting them , but cleaning them was a job lol .

my husband used to go mushroom hunting when he lived in MI. My mother in law gave the kids a book on mushroom hunting. We'll have to bring her with us when we move to show us how it's done!

mmmmm smelt man do I miss that! Of course I also miss water lol, and the smell of fall, and sledding, and ice skating...why do I live in Arizona again? Oh yeah, sun ...and hubby lol.

Ah, yeah ... my dad used to go mushroom hunting when I was a kid. Grossed me out back then, when he'd come back with a bowl full of morels and cook 'em up. Now I love my shrooms. Too bad I missed out back in the day.
