Lol, my favorite part is all the peoples locations who post here/from here set as just "Michigan" or "South/East Michigan" too ashamed to even say your city, thats when you know it sucks, trust me, Im from Cleveland and I just say Ohio when I tell people Im from there. Saw maybe one person on here with Detroit in their location vs "Michigan". Kinda sad tbh, cause I can relate.

Nah, that's actually not it. Very, very few posters on this site actually live within the city limits of Detroit. So, logically, they don't list "Detroit" as their location. Out of 5 million people in Metro Detroit, only 700,000 truly live in Detroit. So, naturally, if people are being honest, they don't list "Detroit" as their location. Makes sense, right? Yes. Yes it does.

That's where you have it wrong, the reason is because there are maybe two or three posters who actually live in the city and make frequent post. Most people from the CITY of Detroit will proudly tell you they're from Detroit and some will remind you every chance they get. I've even seen people who hate Detroit get offended when someone from the suburbs says their from Detroit. Idk what the deal is out there in Ohio but it ain't the case here bruh. And on this site? please... there are a few posters here I doubt have ever lived anywhere near Detroit, idc what their location says.

I am a Detroit resident that posts on here! A resident of Warrendale! I am not proud though, the decline of the neighborhoods, the abysmal educational attainment by too many of our residents, and the lack of retail/shopping don't make me proud. But the city has much potential.

Of course there are things not to be proud of (that's with any place honestly) but there are also plenty of things to be proud of, just because my city is going through a tough time I'm not going to stop representing it. If anything it encourages me to push myself even harder so I can represent myself, my family, and my home in a positive way.

But if the City of Detroit were to dissolve itself and allow only the absolutely necessary functions to be taken over by the state, it would improve even faster and save the taxpayers a ton of money. The only people who have much to gain by strengthening the City government, as opposed to a potentially-healthy metro, are the hacks and grafters who sucked the life out of it in the first place.

Oh I wish that would happen but it's unlikely lol. There would be so much bitching and moaning throughout the whole state.

I don't see how anyone can survive in Detroit. I have a few friends I went to college/high school with that grew up there, love it and can't see themselves leaving. I guess if you can get a steady job and live in an area that isn't infested with crime, it isn't too bad. I have always felt uneasy in, Detroit (except for in the 80's and early 90's).

I really hope you don't think that 700k that are surviving are just out here dodging bullets. I have numerous friends (some of which grew up in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city) who have never even gotten into a fist fight, even as a kid. Do you know what they will all tell you? "I mind my business and stay out of other people's BS". But your right about one thing, once you make enough money to move out the hood life is just as safe as anywhere else, most of the metro area is very safe.
