Great political move by Snyder. By supporting the proposition he quells criticism from those accusing him of being unresponsive to fixing roads. Had he done nothing he would of been subject to far more criticism.

I'm not so sure. Being an avid supporter of a proposal that just received a historic smack-down?

The obituary and analysis will soon be forgotten. Had nothing been done his inaction would fester with every bump that drivers sustain. Better 'oh well he tried' than 'what's the delay?'

And yes, additional lanes and new highways were built in that timeframe. US-31 was expanded from Cadillac North about 20 miles. M-4 was added in the Grand Rapids area. US-31 is being expanded over near Grand Haven. A lot of new capacity that needs be be maintained was added. Many of the new highways built around Lansing make no sense to me. Why was 127 expanded North of Lansing?

But apparently ENOUGH money was brought in to make new roads.....
