Hi all
Just moved to the midwest from Boston area. We used to love going to Jackson/N. Conway, NH for a cross country ski weekend. Are there any similar places in Michigan that do a good tourist trade focused on winter sports? Would be interested in places with nice inns and good restaurant options too. Thanks!!

Check out northwest lower MI~Traverse City, Petoskey, Boyne Mt., Cadillac, Charlevoix, Empire, Glen Arbor, Suttons Bay~and along Lake MI. I'm sure the Upper Peninsula has some great areas as well.

Shanty Creek Resort has three locations all located together - Schuss Mountain and Cedar River Lodge at Mancelona, and Shanty Cteek on the Bellaire side. Typically Schuss is open longest (earlier in season and latest in season) due to Mancelona's heavier snowfall. ShantyCreek.com lists all the promotions and events. They are well known for the Slush Cup in March. A fun event for spectators and competitors. They've always got promotions going on.
