Hello

We went, a long time ago, to Sand Dunes and Silver Lake
Some friends told us they went to Sleeping bear dunes, and it was much bigger
But when I google it, it shows an island.....!!!
Where is exactly Sleeping Bear dunes? I thought it was near Crystal Lake...but I'm not so sure. Or it's Glen Lake?
We are looking for a cottage to rent, to visit the Dunes and also spend 1 day on the lake (boat rental)

Thanks

Sleeping Bear dunes is near Glen Lake/Glen Arbor. That's where Pierce Stocking Drive and the Dune Climb are located. Also recommend the Empire Bluffs trail just south of Empire. Nice short trail hike with excellent views at the end.

Frankfort (down by Crystal Lake) has a very nice beach on Lake Michigan and nice little downtown area. I recommend Stormcloud Brewing (if you are into craft beer). There's a scenic overlook off of M22 south of Frankfort.

The image Google points to is North Manitou Island, and is correct, but slightly misleading. North Manitou Island is part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore.

The southwest corner of the Leelanau Penninsula contains the Dunes, located directly west of Glen Lake on the coast of Lake Michigan, north of Frankfort. All are really beautiful areas!

If you go to Crystal Lake, keep your eyes open for Jason Voorhees and get ready to RUN! lol.
