Not based on your luck there, but what are the best casinos in Michigan BESIDES Detroit? I have heard good things from Odawa in Petoskey but have not been there myself. I have my opinions on other places but let's hear what casino goers think please.

Odawa is an awesome casino. Once they get the hotel added on to the main building it will be even better. Not only is there an abyss of gambling choices, but they have a concert hall, a good buffet, a more upscale restaurant, and a nightclub. They really did a great job with the layout of that place. It's nice to have it so close instead of driving to Traverse City, St. Ignace or the Soo all the time.

I have been to 2 concerts at Odawa, sheesh! With all the money they put into that place, you think they could have had stadium seating or at least a slanted foor. Instead you sit on squished together folding chairs on a flat floor and the stage is only raised 3 feet. Poor job Odawa! I feel sorry for the folks in the farther seats.

The buffet is good, I dont gamble though. I did find the Casino to be small and crowded compared to downstate ones.

Pretty harsh there, snowflake. The tix are only $40 and $25 for some big name acts, you really can't beat it. I sat in the back at Joan Jett and had no worries, although the sound isn't as good as is it closer to the front. They have video screens on either side of the stage to help out anyone (like me) who might be vertically challenged. Hey, when I moved up here I thought I was gonna hafta drive to GR, Chicago and Detroit to get my concert fixes, so I've been very happy with Odawa's entertainment lineup so far. Not bad for lil' ol' Petoskey, Michigan!

When you are used to being a stones throw from Pine Knob, Cobo and the Joe, Odawa aint much, but its all we got. I have been there, I know how much the tix are and that there are screens.....its still a poor set up.....its more like a banquet hall. If they wanted a banquet hall they should have made one and made a better hall for concerts. Its not like they dont have the money to do it properly.....shoot, the movie house in Petoskey even has stadium seating. We saw Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Robert Cray, 3rd row and 2nd row respectivly.....no way will I sit in the back. But to each his own, glad you like it. I expected more.

Wow, I have read a lot of your posts and am suprised by your attitude toward this subject. You seem pretty hostile about it. I was just pointing out the prices and ammenities for any one looking in that might not have been there yet.

If you moved up here expecting to have access to places like Pine Knob and Cobo then I can understand your dissapointment at Ovation Hall. Reminds me of the girl I knew that moved to Petoskey and then left because there were no big malls, fancy restaurants or nightclubs here. You DO realize this is northern Michigan, right?

Myself, I don't need to be pampered with stadium seating. Mix me a Beam & Coke, crank up the tunes, and I'm good to go.

Good lord, its my opinion, with the money the casino rakes in they could have put stadium seating in the place, thats my one and only complaint. We are packed in like sardines on folding chairs.

I am greatful to have a place close by at all, its the one and only thing I miss since moving North, I hate malls, I dont go to night clubs, I rarely even go to Petoskey or TC, so yes, I am well aware this is Northern Michigan. I live on 35 acres in the middle of nowhere

That being said, Ovation Hall, is just that, a HALL, not a concert venue. I have heard tell that, Little River, I think has stadium seating in their concert hall, Odawa could have and should have done the same

So how bout those opinions casino-wise haha....anyone else?

key words: besides Detroit/Windsor

I'm talking overall experience: enjoyment, environment, guest service, and any other qualities casino goers go for.

I thought Brimley's casino in the U.P. the few times I was there was the best out of the ones I have been to. (Which are Petoskey, Soo, St,Ignance, Williamsburg, Leelanau, Hessel & Brimley)

To me the atmosphere & attitudes of the workers were the best there. Got the impression from the Soo & St.Ignance that they were kind of snooty. Leelanau would be my 2nd pick of the best! And I think that the Soo & Leelanau have great seats for concerts. (can't say anyhing about Petoskey, have never been there).

Soaring eagle in Mt.Pleasant is pretty good. They are roomy, good buffett, and several nicer eaterys.Their concert hall does not have stadium seatin but has several levels,so everyone can see well.Their concerts are always in the 50-75 range for seating which is pricey.
