Hi. Has anyone here built in Oakland or Macomb counties lately? I'm looking for a ballpark figure for city/county fees.

And, does anyone know if there are any cities or counties giving concessions for building within their jurisdiction?

Thanks,
Adam

what are you building? If you want concessions it needs to be multi millions of dollars and job producing when its done.
Thats me shooting from the hip.

Just single family residential. I figure there's got to be concessions somewhere. I can't see so much construction going on right now in the newer areas without the older areas trying to attract activity.

I am in Washtenaw County and have not heard of anything like that here. But I have no knowledge of Macomb county or Oakland county.

I've worked in the residential construction business in Michigan for a little over 20 years and I've never heard of a municipality giving concessions to attract people to build individual homes. If you're looking to build a 20 unit apartment or condo building on an urban site, there are usually incentives available like Brownfield Credits, Historic tax credits and other MEDC incentives, but those come from the State or Federal government.

Concessions would go to the development builder, not you as an individual. Don't think you'll get concessions for a vacation home either. You will get a much higher tax rate though.

I am the builder and will be building myself for myself. I've discovered concessions in two communities.

I don't expect concessions on the vacation lot, but if I'm putting my time and money somewhere, I'm going to do it where I'd like to relocate. If I can convince my wife, that vacation home would soon become our primary residence! Lol.
