Glad to see a post like this! Seems like Michigan is getting lots of bad press lately, but I know it can't be all that bad. Thank you for posting! Oddly enough, it made my day.

I think 75 at the Zilwaukee bridge is closed - on 275 right before Memorial Day the detour said to take 96 to 127 so it must have been all the way down. Co-workers told me they were routing people from the highway through downtown Saginaw - could be mess.

Maybe it will all be taken care of by the time you are here but you might want to check it out first.

Actually, that detour really isn't so bad. Of course, I drove it during the week. It might be much worse on a weekend.

My son recently visited from NW Michigan, he went home via I-96 to Lansing and north on U.S. 127 and avoided all the construction completely. He is south of Traverse City so he headed west sooner than you would, but you could take 127 all the way to Grayling and get back on I-75. He found it a much easier drive than the dealing with the construction.

Do check the MI DOT website before you hit the state for updates. They may have shut down the construction zones as much as possible for the holiday.
