I have a friend who is in educational sales with Apple. Since the educational budget in CA sucks at the moment, she is facing higher sales quotas, while at the same time, districts have had to trim their budgets and don't have the money to spend on computers that they once did.

One of her opportunities to stay on with Apple is to transfer to Michigan. She would be able to work in either Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids, both of which haven't felt the impact of the downturn in the economy as badly as cities like Flint and Detroit, since they never were dependent on the auto industry.

If someone could comment on this, I'd appreciate it. I've been away from Michigan since 1970, with only two return trips, so I'm out of the loop.

Thanks in advance!

either town would be just fine,....the MEA has legislation pending with the states Democratic party to have unlimitited access to every citizens bank account. The Gov says she will sign the bill. Your friend should be quite happy in any case.

Where is a link to this claim? I haven't heard a thing and you would think if it is true there would be a LOT being said about it.

All I'm hearing about in my area is educational budgets being cut. I just talked to someone who was moved from doing 5th-grade math with special ed supports to 9th-grade math -- algebra! -- with next to no support. Teachers without tenure are getting downsized, and qualified teachers are not able to get jobs in their field. I don't think that speaks well for the overall budget.

And the frogs and the bats and the plague o'boils. Everything you remember from watching The Abominable Dr. Phibes.

I can think of a number of positives and negatives to take into consideration. All things considered, I would likely not recommend it.

Well of course he is, but I refer to Dr. Anton Phibes, from the excellent film -- remember the tagline? "Love means never having to say you're ugly"?
