U.S. to use bank bailout to aid automakers - International Herald Tribune

I don't think this is actually such a surprise. Bush made a deal with Senate Republicans: "You vote against the bailout bill, giving yourself cover for your Southern constituents and the foreign automakers, and I'll bail out the automakers, giving Americans a nice Christmas present at the end of my term."

He's trying to rescue his legacy.

His legacy is beyond rescue. He may very well go down as the worst president in the history of the United States. Under his watch the transformation of the United States from a first world country to a third world country accelerated dramatically. He completely failed to recognize or address the problems of global labor arbitrage and the global and national Malthusian crisis. I doubt that Obama will be much better in these regards, nor would McCain.

There's never been a spending bill that Bush didn't like. Bush is a globalist however that has very much pushed the sending of jobs out of the country for the purpose of ultra cheap labor. He's not for the American people.

I know that. But he's hoping that when the history books are written 10 - 20 years from now, there'll be a passage in there at the end of how he rescued the automotive industry from almost certain collapse.

He might be a bad president, but one thing is for certain. George Bush cares about this country, and by pushing along this bailout he has the common good of the people in mind. I don't think he has any selfish reason for doing this.

If he cared anything about this country, he would have listened to the warnings about the economic policies that led to this. He may or may not have selfish reasons but he's done a lot of damage. He does not care about Americans, he cares about his globalist friends.

Bush has committed at least 8 impeachable offenses since he stole the Presidency. If the UAW doesn't agree to concessions, there will not be a bailout, just a restructuring of a horrible business plan that has been allowed to go on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long.

Yeah. Too bad he's dead wrong about that.

Dead wrong about what? That he shouldn't help stave off an economic depression?
