If you had to choose between these towns to live in...which would you choose?

{this is for a low income disabled person, who is middle aged and Christian-applying for housing etc, soon to be divorced: who wants a safe stable place to live, with very little ghetto and crime but can offer a dial a ride, disabled, busing system, hospital/decent enough medical care and where people are friendly}

Battle Creek

St. Joseph

Allegan

Three Rivers

Niles/Buchanan.

**************************************
any other suggestions I am up for them.

With all the stipulations that you mentioned thenI'd suggest Battle Creek.

Depends on where you're working.
St. Joe and Battle Creek are an hour apart from each other.

Default If you're disabled

Why do you need a job? I'm on SSDI and don't have to work. I think anyone would desire the same thing you do in a "small town". I dunno what you can afford but I'm looking in the Higgins lake area. The income is mostly from the tourist seasons so they have to offer the things you want, transportation, better hospitals and shopping. I can get a new home in the 70K range. Then just hire someone to fit your needs. I'm sure that would be easy with everyone looking to make an extra buck. Then you have the additional benefit of the church people that always lend a hand.
At least look into it.

Hmm I guess SJ or BC....
if u moved to Allegan u would be stuck in Allegan and needing a ride all the time because of lack public transportation.
Im not sure about Three Rivers but I think the same can be said for them too.
And Niles/Buchanan is basically full of crack heads thats according some friends that used to live there...
There are decent parts of Benton Harbor and no I dont mean downtown but right off Napier there are 2 Apt complexes that are a bit ghetto fabulous but nothing too scary but very affordable...
Good luck Chica

Where is Higgins Lake? Oh I went to look it up, Looks like that would be a small town area. Kind of north for my liking, but I wish you the best up there.

Yeah, I am going to choose a town now with Greyhound and Amtrak, along the 94 line, that would fit St. Joe or Battle Creek. I found out the housing in Allegan, took in chronically homeless not just disabled which basically means drug addicts. Yeah I think Buchanan had changed, I almost did move down there, but something held me back. The rents down there even for normal apartments are CHEAP like 360 a month. I thought well maybe because its rural but maybe NOT!

Yeah some parts of Benton Harbor are OK, I go to church is technically Benton Harbor address. I think I know what apartments you are talking about....one actually I kept their card of in my journal, cheap 1 bedroom apt for $405.

I knew there were disabled and other people who could not afford to keep car going, who got stuck even in Hillsdale county for like 10 years.

Battle Creek may be up in air, because the one relative there, I can tell is thinking about moving out of state.
