I heard two times today that Jay is doing a free concert in Detriot for anyone who is unemployed. Free tickets, parking. I think it is April 6th. He called where the Pistons have their games and Pepsi said they would sponsor it. Really nice

that is cool.
but the detroit city council is already having a problem..

Quote:
Council President Monica Conyers asked Reeves, head of the council’s Entertainment Task Force, to contact Leno, or his people, to make a change of venue happen.

“Who do I call?” Reeves asked, looking around the council table to no one in particular. “Who do I call?” (http://www.freep.com/article/20090310/NEWS01/90310075 - broken link)

Does the City of Detroit think no one in Oakland County lost jobs?

Or over here in Macomb County as well , it's like a ghost town over here . I wonder if Jay asked any venue's in Detroit like the Joe , Ford Field ? And if so did they offer those venue's for free complete with free parking . Would Cobo's garage/roof offer free parking ? I highly doubt they would . Jay did plug Detroit as one of his favorite cities in an interview yesterday saying we make good cars , plus it's free for anyone wherever they are from . I suppose Detroit residents wouldn't have any problem getting down to the Palace for a Pistons game , and I doubt very many residents would be interested in a Jay Leno act .

Yes he said because he was on The View yesterday that he called where the Pistons play and he is getting it for free. Pepso is sponsoring it. You get 4 free tickets, free parking. I think it is nice , if you don't like him don't go.

So he'll be at the Palace. Cool.

The Detroit City council can go to hell. They are a useless bunch.

Default Howard Stern slams Jay Leno for free Detroit comedy show

Howard Stern, and his sidekick Artie Lange, slammed both Jay Leno and Detroit on Stern's satellite radio show. It has been reported on the news that Detroit city councilwoman Martha Reeves had called Leno to ask about a free concert in the City of Detroit .
Leno has told her that he tried Ford Field first but the were booked and will try and schedule another concert later this year .

Darn, I thought it was a Jay Leno-free concert!! lolI think it's a good thing. And it seems appropriate, being he's into classic cars the way he is.It seems to me the "City" is looking to get some sort of recognition (or maybe parlay it into some cash somehow) for themselves by raising a stink just because he didn't offer to stand in the middle of Detroit and rattle of one-liners while they listened from their offices.Did they come up with any "brilliant" ideas to at least try to help to boost the morale of people who are really suffering (like offer to take a (GASP) pay-cut as a gesture of support), or help them try to forget for a couple of hours what they're going through. Oh, I forgot, they're politicians, not humans!!I mean, the venue is free, parking is free, Jay is working for free, and Pepsi is picking up the "Tab" (yes, BAAAD beverage pun intended). Why don't the gripers work one day for (GASP again) FREE!Just a thought.
