Is anybody else noticing lot's of police all over, either waiting.. or have cars puled over. For the last 10 years I would rarely see a state cop on the e-ways and never during rush hour. And for the last 10 years I've watched people's driving habits change, especially as the speed limit went to 70. Everybody tailgates, go 80 mph, no signals for lane changes, and as I maintain 70 mph people fly past. But now, as if somone came to thier senses... said hey, lets start doing our "job", and write some tickets. Maybe its me, but I find humor in this, as our state troopers are being laid off, and MI is in a deficit, and people moving out. NOW, THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE I'm sure this has to do with loss of money. Oh, and by the way I try best to be a good driver, and have'nt had a ticket since 95' and I'm 37 years old. Anybody else have thoughts, as to the "New Police Presence"?

A few more police here and there ... Michigan will look a little more like Illinois and Indiana in terms of enforcement. It's still nowhere near as bad as Ohio.

"Keep it below 80" and you are okay, unless you are the only guy on the road that day and Mr Nice Officer needs his Dunkin' Donuts.

I wish we could raise the speed limits by 10 mph on all roads.

I have noticed this too. Especially at rush hour in the detroit suburbs. There are rarely police around in the mornings or afternoons. Now I have been seeing them consistantly.

I drive all over the state for work, and I have definately noticed this. Even just the last few months. Especially between Flint and Lansing, it's like 2 or 3 every couple miles! With all the cuts, and as much as crime seems to be going up here and they seem to not solve a lot of the big news crime you would think they would allocate their resources better than trying to bust a bunch of morning commuters for going 5MPH over the limit.

I-275 from 6 Mile to 8 Mile has always been infamous. Livonia hates the freeway, but loves the revenue.

275 is where I am seeing the increase as well. But even south of Livonia has been getting heavier. Passed a Canton officer the other day who was driving on 275. never seen them before on 275 so maybe he was heading someplace and not patrolling but he was only doing 65. So he got a good look at my bumper

Default Money Maker?

I am hearing that they are out in force to try and catch more speeders to raise more revenue . . . especially the State Police.

I personally have noticed an increase in police on the highways, with one stretch of I-69 north of Lansing recently having two cars (one State Police and one county mountie) within about a mile of each other as I drove by.

Going 69 and half, of course.
