I just heard this announcement on the radio, except they used the phrase "forced out" when they talked about Rick Wagoner. Then they had Obama on there laying down the rap on how they have to partner with Fiat before they're getting another dime from the Feds.

I mean, wow. I had no idea that the president could just take a giant company and shake it upside down like that, even during an emergency. In fact since Reagan was first in office, I understood it was always the other way around.

I think it's ridiculous that they would do this to the auto companies. I would have no problem if they were treating the banks the same way but they're not. The bank CEO's are still in their jobs getting their paychecks and bonuses and the auto companies have agreed on $1 salaries and no bonuses for their CEO's how is this even close to right?

Yeah, and apparently $165 Million in bonus contracts with bank execs MUST be honored, but contracts with UAW workers don't mean anything. Those greedy middle-class Americans. Who do they think they are getting $10.00/hour more than Japanese auto workers!! Apparently you have to come up with creative derivative schemes to scam Americans to make the big bucks around here, and get some respect. <end sarcasm>

I'm so tired of this bullsh*t.

Is this surprising? The auto co's didn't fulfill their end of the bargain. Does anyone really think there wouldn't be strings attached as a condition to lending our taxpayer dollars?

You can't support a failing business and then criticize the action as a form of socialism.

Well, yes I can. Especially when the federal government gets involved in personnel decisions. Why didn't they do the same thing to the CEOs in the banking industry? The mortgage industry? The labor unions? What's next to be 'taken over' by the government?

We might as well all move to North Korea since our governments are so similiar.

The gov should have done nothing. Let the companies fail that were going to fail and the companies that are competitve will thrive.

Either that or bail out the people who are hurting.

What gets me is the way the government has such a double standard; why does the Postmaster General get a huge raise + perks=$850,000 when they lost over 2.8 billion last year? Why do people think the government can solve, or are the answer to everything? Look at their track record! They let the jackoffs in the banking industry and wall street have bonuses as well, then act like they didn't know about it when they're the ones who ok'd it!

Rick Wagner was working for $1 with no bonus. He's probably glad to be out of the mess. I didn't agree with the bailout of the auto or banks, but what's good for one should be good for the other, and especially the lying crooks in Washington that are telling everyone how to do business, and how to live, yet they throw money around like confetti! They're the biggest wasteful spending bunch there is!

Part of it is that it was not the same administration that loaned that money. It was already done. I heard they are sitting down with them soon and expect some feathers to be ruffled in the banks as well.
