Advertisements

I see them once in a while in Chicago. There are also radio ads on all the time. I'm from Michigan, so they're nice to see.

The Pure Michigan ads have aired quite a bit nationally on CNBC and a few other cable networks over the past year. I used to see the ones with Jeff Daniels a lot.

You can view all the ads at View Our Ads - Pure Michigan Travel

I see the Pure Michigan adds all the time here in the DFW area. I vacation in MI every summer since I've moved away.

For you out of state folks: Were you surprised to see how pretty MI was in the ads? I often believe people think of Detroit when they think of Michigan, not what you see in the ads. I really think Michigan is one the the most underrated states. And when I move to NC this fall I'll definitely be telling tales about my life up here.

I know when I lived in Texas and also while I was in the Northeast, whenever I said I was from Michigan the first question was how I lived living away from the big cities. They were shocked when I informed them I had never lived in a town larger than 15,000 and mostly I lived in farming communities of around 1200. My Mother-In-Law who was born and raised within 50 miles of Boston STILL asks how safe we are whenever I talk to her. She pictures Detroit and Flint and not the true 90% of the State. She is so convinced the entire state is like Detroit she hasn't even come to visit.

I hope the ads get the point across that there is MUCH more to Michigan than the big cities.

I live in NC and see the ads all the time. I was shocked at how beautiful your state is, I was one of those that pictured Detriot. I can tell you the commercials are working because after seeing them, I have done some digging and Michigan looks like a place my family and I could be very happy! It's gorgeous and everyone seems so friendly. I have always looked for a place that had easy access to sking and the beach, with down to earth friendly people, and Michigan looks like it fits!

And you would be absolutely right. You have the polite, down to earth midwestern mindset combined with natural beauty you don't find elsewhere in the Midwest. There's so much stuff to see and do year round (even in winter) I don't even know where to start. Ever seen frozen waves on Lake Michigan? Pretty sweet stuff.... The best thing about moving out of state is getting to promote Michigan to people who think it's all Detroit.

BTW, I just got back from NC and thought it was beautiful too--especially the mountains.

First time I saw them and didn't know it was Michigan right away, I wondered where those really nice places were. Makes me a bit warm and fuzzy inside seeing these ads.

Is anyone else seeing these on TV?
I am seeing these in metro Atlanta. I kknew Michigan had a certain mystique to it because of its geographical shape and position. Whenever I see these commercials, I think about how Michigan is using tourism as a part of its economy.
When I was much young, I had a Fisher-Price map of the USA. To me, Michigan looked very unique. Sometimes I think about the level in Mario Bros. 3 where it is literally a waterland.
