I'm graduating from college soon and I'm having difficulty with figuring out if I should move or if staying in Michigan is a good option. I'm a bike rider and like to ride trails (paved or dirt). I'm getting into pinball as a hobby. Outside things have been more prominent in my life and having a business major means I can do a lot of different things. My family is pretty spread across the country now, so not having a lot of family around locally makes the decision more difficult to make. The weather can be a pain to deal with at times, but there are times where it is good too like during the summer. While not everyone is nice (you can't expect that anywhere), people are pretty respectful with beliefs. The traffic is also manageable around here.

When I went to DC (I know I'll never go there), it was a nightmare for traffic. It's a good tourist place, but not anything I would do for the long term. The weather there seems like it's worse than it is here and I can't find as much fun stuff to do there that isn't tourist stuff. In the end, it's all up to me, but having a little help from others doesn't hurt.

Depends on your major / career field as to if you have employment opportunities here or elsewhere.

Yup....it all depends on what you want to do with your life. If you want to go in a direction that you think Michigan cannot take you...then you should probably leave. But if you love this state, then by all means do not leave with exploring all your options.
Good luck!

You're at the right age and time in your life to try different places --- but isn't there any place or direction that's pulling you? You don't bring up any destination -- but if you're feeling restless, now is the time because nothing much is holding you there. You can always try somewhere and return.

I left Michigan after college - I had a need to travel and see and try other places. I liked the weather in those other places more and I did try going back once but couldn't re-adapt to the cold and snow and cloudy days so I left again.

One area I was thinking was the Austin area in Texas. It has the things there to continue my hobbies along with better weather. North Carolina isn't too bad either. Won't go to DC, most of California, southeast (Alabama, Georgia, Florida), or plains. Hopefully, I can end up with a decent job. I'm a business major with an econ minor BTW.

If you don't like the traffic in DC, rule the major metros of NC out. The cities have doubled in size in the last 10 yrs, but the infrastructure hasn't kept up with the population boom. Traffic in Charlotte, NC is a nightmare (in my opinion; folks from NJ / NY / DC thought it was nothing) and the traffic was one of the major reasons why I didn't want to stick around.
