Just FYI to anyone in the area. Some lovely pieces of trash are getting into cars parked in your driveways in the middle of the night while you sleep and going through your glovebox for anything of value. I'm sure they're checking trailers and boats, too.

So, lock your doors, park your cars in the garage if you can, take EVERYTHING of value out of your car, take EVERYTHING out of your glovebox, including license and registration (keep those in your wallet), remove the cell phone charger, and get flood lights for the yard.

Evidently the 'lil cretins are hitting the shopping malls, movie theatres, etc.

They don't care if you have a car alarm out here in Phoenix.

They just break a window.....the 'ole smash & grab technique.

It's not limited to Clarkston. We've had the same thing happening here in Highland. In fact my son had his bike stolen right off the front lawn in broad daylight 2 nights ago. I was out the door and after that kid in my car within a minute with my son with me. That sly little bastard hid in the bushes and bolted down the street after I flew past him. We found him, and his parents lied for him to cover his ass. They told the police a bunch of lies as well. Gotta love those involved parents.

Thanks for the heads up / reminder that no matter where you live , desparate people do desparate things . I'm betting with all the unemployment , things like this may be linked to increases in crimes .

The police officer I spoke with said that there is a lot of it going around "due to the economy." Hell, I've been unemployed for a year and a half - you don't see me breaking into cars. He also said that some people will just leave their cars unlocked so the thieves will just take whatever and leave, without smashing the window.
