Well, It seems that Partlo management is a mess. They are very unorganized and don't know their own property atleast the staff doesn't. We looked at few houses for rent. They seem to run about $800-850 in rent. WE also have 2 cats whch seem to be a deal breaker. If you guys know anyone renting 2-3 bedroom house. Please let me know. we are still looking.

However, unless you are going to college at CMU or you work at the Casino there really is not a whole lot the city has to offer. Very sad.

I am working on my masters now so I am pretty much past the college party days. I live in Woodside Apartments witch is run by hometown reality. It is a quiet area with the majority of residents being adults. The apartments are nice too. For the most part it is a very quiet neiborhood. I have lived there for two years and don't mind it too much. There are a few lower income people living in the complex though. If you can get into the condos that hometown reality has they are pretty nice. Other than that I would look to move outside of town.
WE are thinking about looking Woodside apartements. Where are the Condos located ?

Default I'm now a little worried.

We're also moving to Mt. P in the beginning of June because of a job transfer and were looking for a rental as well. It's not been easy at all. I've been looking for months. We're going on the 15th of March to look in person to see what is actually there and get a feel for the town. We've been looking with Partlo management and they seem to have the most inventory of any management broker out there. The only trouble I'm having is with the pet policy. No one seems too want to accept pets. That's going to be a problem.

The other problem I foresee is, even though we're moving so my husband can teach at CMU, as mentioned earlier the folks of Mt. P may be cliquish, I foresee the cold shoulder. We are an active duty army family and this will be the first time we're not on an army post. It will be very unfamiliar turf. I feel like I'm going back to college. It's creepy. Thank God by daughter is going away to college in Maine and not with us at CMU.

We are also trying to sell our home here at Fort Hood which makes for uneasy times here in TX.

Any other advise would be appreciated.

I had a great place when I lived in Mt. P. The apartments were quiet and very well kept. The landlord was easy to get in touch with and took care of any problems right away...not that I had very many. The place was called Northpointe Commons. They are near the high school on...Brown?? street. Easy walking distance to CMU. Pets were allowed when I lived there 3 years ago...I doubt it has changed.

Mount Pleasant definitely is "cliquey". Out of towners are looked down upon, and of course the locals and the college students don't always get along the best. It's a nice little town, the park system is great if you like relaxing or going for bike rides, walks, or what have you, but be prepared to be around crowds for 9 months out of the year. The city virtually doubles in size during the fall and spring semesters. Winters are bad, but that's how it is in Michigan. The city is terrible at plowing, too. When I lived out there it seemed that it took 2 days for them to plow a road, so you better have a car with good tires. We're talking big snow drifts in the middle of the road and stupid college drivers.

Also, as a college student there, it's a college town, everything is oriented towards college kids. Other than that there is little to do, and you are in the middle of nowhere. Midland is the closest city to go to for shopping, and it's 30 minutes away. But even Midland isn't that "happening." If you look at a map, you will find that Mount Pleasant is in the center of Michigan and that there is nothign around it for quite a ways.

In short, it's a "pleasant" little town but has nothing to offer except to people who are going to Central Michigan University or a retiree who doesn't want to go out and see interesting things.

I have 2 friends that go to CMU and I wouldn't want to live there if I didn't have to. Local college kids are everywhere, but the casino is nice if you like to play the tables or slots. If you really want cheap housing, my one friend has an apartment and they are cheap and there are actually families that live there. Yes, your neighbors are college kids that are wasted many times, but I think the families live there because it is cheap. I asked my friend if people bother the families and she said no, they just live there. My other friend lives in a house with others on one of the side streets and the rent is rather cheap. She has 2 cats there, but again the neighborhood is filled with college kids and frat houses. That may be a problem at night.

please don't move here unless you have to!!! my gf and i live in jamestown on isabella, we are 23 and 21 and would move to Russia just to get out of here. i do not want to sound like a downer, however this place is strictly a college town with nothing but a casino for activities. we pay $535 per month, which i know doesn't sound bad but you have to see this place to appreciate what weve gone through. for example, for the last three days there has been three bags of trash and a sock right in front of the front door. the dumpster is 30ft away and the owner of the apartment decided they're going to just put all this trash right in front. these are the caliber of people that live here, i am sure there are good people in Mt. Pleasant, but you get my drift. i am currently in school at cmu, but can no longer take the area so we are forced to move in june which is fine by me. what i am trying to say is to look at your options, and move to Mt. P as a LAST RESORT!

Why don't you put the trash in the dumpster if it is a big deal to you? It does tell a lot about the caliber. Not, my job, RIGHT???

Its not that Mt. Pleasant is bad... its just soooo BORING. Unless you want to go to college parties or are a professional poker player (oh and the cardroom sucks anyways) I would recommend against moving to MP.

can you honestly say that you would take three bags of ripped open trash covered in maggots to the dumpster? when it isn't even your trash. i assume you're the type that would put those bags out there, because you have better things to do like watch Maury.
