E.G. Nicks, yes. That's the one I was forgetting. I like their planked whitefish. Sonics I believe went in what used to be Hot N Now, across from Kmart, next to Dairy Queen.

Nope, that's now a Checkers, which has an amazing bacon burger, for the record. I still hear regular rumors about Sonic being built and they are clearing a big commercial lot over there across from the police post.

There's also a Jimmy John's now, across from Tim Hortons, in the same building as GameStop and Starbucks (which is dying a slow agonizing death because everyone loves Tim Hortons so much more). People in Lapeer tend to be more coffee-and-donut types rather than vanilla-venti-latte.

Go west about 10 miles to Davison. John's is an institution for good pizza. When we were first dating and lived in Flint, my wife and I often went to the one there, especially since it was near her parents' house. We were back visiting the in-laws in July and stopped at the one in Davison. They say that you can never go home? Well, the pizza was every bit as good as I remember, 40 years later. Only downside is that they allow smoking.

California pizza sucks, for the most part.
