Hello, I am interested in small town living away from traffic/noise, big city. Preferably in SW MI...does anyone live in or around Plainwell, Otsego, Hastings, and could tell me something about these places? Are they nice, community/family oriented towns to make home? Any responses would be great! Thanks and have a great day! Also, am open to any other towns you may suggest to me as good ones...

I lived in Holt, MI for a year. It is directly south of Lansing, MI. I would assume from your post that Holt would probably be a little to close to Lansing. But just south of there is a town called Mason, MI. Mason is a very nice small town and it is only about 15 mins from Lansing but far enough away.

I lived in Leslie for a few years and it was a quiet town. They also have a fantastic charter school there that my kids go to.

Awfully close...
Check out my post on the Ohio forum about Montpelier, OH. Nice little town about as close to Michigan as you can get without actually being there (about 10 miles from MI and 10 from IN). Also, we are just over an hour from Wapakoneta, OH if that means anything to you.

Clayton Michigan is about as small as you can get. couple others would be farifield and Jasper Michigan. Very small towns Clayton is very family oriented and so is Jasper. all are just North of Ohio border. Clayton is a wonderful community however very small Maybe 300 to 500 people. Most are in country though. maybe 100 to 150 in town. They have alot of village activities for kids and everyone is friendly.
