As a Michigan-born fellow living out of the state for the past 30-years, it always pains me to see on occasions vehicles that bear Michigan license plates just because they're so boringly ugly!

Why can't someone in charge of these things commission *someone* to do a plate that's actually drop-dead gorgeous?!

It's embarrassing because it's just one more (little) thing that shouts: "Michigan's an industrial junkyard full of mindless hicks that have no future."

Come on! SOMEONE please take some pride and understand that there's value in letting the rest of the world have a sense that Michigan isn't all about doom and gloom!

WE CAN DO BETTER!!!

I like the new plate

However, after looking at it, they need to redesign it so that "Spectacular Peninsulas" isn't covered up by the tags. FAIL.

Michigan has always had boring license plates. Remember the blue plate? It's one of the things that makes our state unique. If you want ugly license plates, look at Nebraska. Yeesh.

Actually, the FAIL is on the part of whoever owns that plate. If you look closely, you can see there's an indentation on the top right of the plate where the sticker is suppose to go, NOT the bottom right where they put it. FAIL.

Anyone remember the black ones?

They got rid of 'em in the early '80's; went to the blue ones.

Folks in Texas used to call Michiganders "Black Tag People".

I didn't notice that. I guess I found one of the few pictures showing operator error.

It doesn't look too bad to me. But from the computer screen, "Michigan" looks kind of small.

Atleast the tag doesn't contain errors! For years Pennsylvania's tag said "You've got a friend in Pennsylvania."
