So I was wondering what is the best hill or "Mountain" to go snowboarding on in Michigan which most likely means Upper Michigan. I am looking for long runs and decent snow or "powder". I'm not big into terrain parks so that doesn't matter to me but rather height of ski hill and length of runs.

In Wisconsin we have decent hills but Upper Michigan seems to have the best from what I have heard. Here is what I was told were the best hills to go on:

Big Powderhorn

Blackjack Ski Resort

Nub's Nob

Indianhead Mountain

Norway Mountain

Pine Mountain

Porcupine Mountain (The Porkies)

Whitecap Mountain

If anyone can speak to the best place to go skiing or snowboarding in Michigan would be much appreciated.

PS: I don't think any ski hill in the midwest should be allowed to use the word "Mountain" when describing their ski HILL!

Nub's Nob is part of the Boyne Country resorts which also includes Boyne Highlands directly across from Nub's in Harbor Springs and there is also Boyne Mountain in Boyne Falls/City. Excellent boarding and skiing there.

Dont forget the resort in Gaylord for snowboarding. They trained Olympians on their slopes.

Nub's Nob is not part of Boyne!

I much prefer Nub's over any of the Boynes!.....
for longest runs, you would be better off in the UP.........i do highly recommend Nub's though....but I hear awesome things about Norway and others in the UP........hopefully someone with experience will reply

Mount Bohemia in the Keweenaw Peninsula in the UP. Not for beginners.

Ahhh, I thought Boyne bought out Nubs when Dorie passed away. Nub's was just down the road from me as a boy and that was my preference for skiing.

I second this. Also Marquette Mountain. The hill is basically operated by college kids that are SAM(ski area management) students. I've seen nicer rails and bigger gaps there than places out west. There are some sick riders there.

I cant vouch for Nub's Nob base, grooming or snow production details but can comment on Scarface and Chute. That hill has the fastest vertical drop this side of the Rockies. Wow.
