I know it is snow city up there but for those of you who live there year round what do you do for entertainment? I would love the quiet and solitude but my husband needs people. What do you do when you want sometime with others?

I stayed indoors all the winters I lived in MI, I didn't care for the cold. I spent a lot of money on home entertainment, Wi, video games, fitness, movie rental. I used to really enjoy puzzles, always had one going on, on the dining room table.

Your husband could get into snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice fishing, etc. and find pals to hang out with.

Cross country ski with a bunch of friends. It is a nice way to spend a day outdoors with friends and seeing wild life.
Snomobileing is also nice but your mostly alone with your thoughts untill you stop and can talk to your friends.
Small game hunting is fun with friends and a lot of ribbing goes on over missed shots and rabbit stew is a good meal to share with those friends at the end of the day.
We also like to call in youtes from afar.
Just a walk in the woods alone is nice for viewing wild life.
We do not always have knee deep snow.

Attend a swim meet, Our grand daughter is part fish.

Pictures taken in the winter are cherished for many a year.

What area of MI are you asking about? What "quiet and solitude" are you talking about? There are large sections of MI that don't really get that much snow. There are active "urban" areas all over the state.
I know people downstate who see four inches on the ground and go into "hibernation mode" for the entire winter rarely ever leaving their house.
I know people up here who shrug off seeing four Feet of snow on the ground, and are always on the go doing all sorts of activities from skiing, theatre, art galleries, etc. et.

Your post is to open ended for me to give much assistance.

It is called Euchre. If you do not know it, learn it. You cannot live in Michigan and not know Euchre.

(And then there is x-c skiing, hiking, sledding, snowmobiling, shoveling out the driveway, building snowmen, forts and having massive snowball fights, drinking mulled cider while sitting by a warm fire, petting your cat, cooking, carving, weaving, ice skating, hunting, . . . . inside or out it is not hard to stay busy, but be sure to make time for euchre. It is a great way to make friends and to begin your transition to a Michigander.

You go out and have fun with others. Just because there is snow on the ground doesn't mean everybody has to stay indoors. A lot of Michigan doesn't get that much snow, while other areas get dumped on. It all depends year to year as well. Last year where I am we only got 50-60 inches of snow, the year before we got 170 inches. Plus it doesn't all stay on the ground when it does come. The year we got 170" in this area there was never more than 24-30" at a time on the ground.

The Lions have their Pancake breakfast every Sunday. A lot of people go to those and enjoy hot cakes and coffee on a cold day. It's a way to get out and meet people for conversation.

Really depends where in MI you are at. Annual snowfall in the state averages from a low of 40-45" in Detroit to a high of 200"+ in the heart of the snowbelts. Once you are in deep winter however (Jan/Feb) there are tons of winter activities planned statewide, many of them actually in more urban areas, from the Motown Winter Blast in downtown Detroit, to the Plymouth Ice Festival in Detroits suburbs....to the Snowfest in Frankenmuth and Tip-Up town in Houghton. Really there is a lot to do to enjoy winter.
