And whats wrong with Southfield being a city with a African American majority. I hope you arent implying a negative connotation to that. The person that wants to move to Southfield could be black for all you know. Most of those cities mentioned have a Black majority, Plurality or significant population (Oak Park, Southfield, Novi, Farmington, Lathrup Village, Bloomfield, Novi). Why should one's ancestry matter when moving to a city? It has no bearing on the kind of people in the neighborhood or whether or not its a good neighborhood. Cmon now!!! If it was a predominantly white upper middle class/lower middle class (and Southfield is more middle and upper than lower) area, nothing would have been mentioned. You'll like Southfield if you like a nice peaceful community. Race shouldnt even have been mentioned. Toledo is 25 percent african american is it not, so i think the poster will be fine. If they new family likes integrated communities and doesnt like mind non white people in the majority...then It wont even matter to them. If they do have a problem, move to ...hmmm...that would be a hard one since every city and community is gentrifying and integrating. Try Holland. But if you see all people as Americans and like safe streets and strong communities. Southfield or any of the Oakland County communities are the way to go. We still need to work on Pontiac, but that will come.

I answer to your query, "nothing". There's nothing wrong with it.

The racial characteristics of a neighborhood are something many perspective home buyers would want to know. As a general rule, majority black cities tend to have higher crime rates and worse (and more dangerous) schools, which is why many white people might prefer to avoid those areas. Consequently, many black people would prefer to avoid those types of areas as well, which is one reason why so many of them have left Detroit and the Detroit Public Schools.

Facts are facts even if we don't like them and would prefer that the facts were different. I wish Detroit were a safe place and that it had world class schools, but it doesn't.

Althoguh I have no interest in a race baiting discussion, this is an odd thing to say. Many of these areas have less than 10% AA populations. Maybe by Plurality you mean more than one?
