As a Reservist, I can say that outside the airlines, most civilian employers are very military-unfriendly to Reserve Servicemembers who have to serve inside the hours of 9-5 M-F. They wipe their backside with USERRA; good luck proving discrimination of hire or promotion due to military affiliation, particularly in at-will states. Also, good luck gaining career footing at an employer you'd have to sue in order to be employed there in the first place. Everybody puts yellow car magnets on the bumper as long as they don't have to employ us and sacrifice a little.

So, unless you can find federal employment affiliated with your Reserve position and/or you're kosher doing temp work for the rest of your life, no civilian career for you, Mr. Citizen Airman. Boeing commercials remind me of this dynamic. Panderers and hypocrites.....

In your mind only...

Look at it from the H.R. side of things. If your job is to select the top three candidates per week, and there are 25,000 applicants, what would you do to eliminate 24,997 applicants?

Prove it....

I know that is true when you have been given a disability of 20% or more....

However, if you do not have a disability...then there is no difference....

SO next reason....

U.S. Department of Labor - Find It By Topic - Hiring - Affirmative Action (http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/hiring/affirmativeact.htm - broken link)

Now, if you can PROVE different, then please show us....

Until you can prove what you say, I'll consider you wrong....
