I wish it were true but I kind of doubt it, that's a major jump in compensation.

Added: I just checked and the rates have not changed.

I agree....nothing has changed....yet....However it is not to take affect until 1 DEC 2010............and will not be enacted until the 2011 fiscal year........

I also agree that is a huge bump.......we will see in January...............

I'd be happy just to get my CRDP. Harry reid attached it to the Defense Authorization Act now it is in trouble for third time this year.
The email you got looks like a bill, I doubt it will go anywhere, there are 400 bills that have passed the house and died in the Senate

It's HR 4667

H.R. 4667: Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2010 (GovTrack.us)

It was already approved by the HoR, the Senate just approved it two days ago. IF Obama signs it, it's a done deal. More surprisingly, no one in the HoR voted no.

The OPs reference was a 73% increase, the latter sets it as whatever Social Security awards or probably 1% about $27 on 100%.
The GOBP has cost me $775 a month CRDP, the Disabled Veterans Tax, three times this year.

This pdf file says, "2010" benefits...so that means this is a year old...right?
And it didn't happen.

Next week begins the new fiscial year and they will soon tell us what the % increase will be, if any, for 2011.

On the news recently it said the max happiness for $ income was $75,000 yearly. It's ashame the govt allows 100% service connected-unemployable veterans to make only $40,000 or so a year.
And these folks are usually in the prime of their life when they are injured....only to rob them of the opportunity (not always but most likely) to make $75k a year.

I'm confused. Having read the bill, all I see it does is standardize the Cost of Living Increase with Social Security. As it is now, for those Veteran's drawing both VA and SS disability, the COLA's are usually a little different because they use different measuring standards.

That huge dollar amount increase is...I THINK...from a piece of proposed legislation or IOM recommendation which suggested giving Veteran's a huge increase in pay while, at the same time, taking back Social Security disability payments. The objective was to prevent disabled Veteran's from "double-dipping," but offering a large quality of life increase to compensate for the loss of SS disability.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how it turns out. IF the increase is that large, and IF it also eliminates payments to Veteran's by Social Security, for many of us, it would result in a net loss.

Please read the entire bill...(if it is an actual bill) it says it will begin
1 December 2010, which means (if this is true) you will not see it until January 2011...

If we are going to discuss this.....then everyone please read, the entire thing..not what you want to read..and then form an opinion.....

I really hope this happens....if not, then...I will have to talk to my friend about this....tell him to do some research before he sends stuff out....

Maybe I should have done some research....before putting this out........

However, 99.9% of the time...when he sends something out...he gets it from a reliable source...........
