How about it, are there any other Seabees out there other than me? I'd love to hear all your greatest sea stories, ya bunch of "ole salty sea dogs". Where ya went to boot at, what battalions you served in, were you in the south pacific or European operations? Was it WWII, Korea, Nam or Desert storm or present time?
Lets give these CD folks a little history lesson on the Bee's and what we're all about.
I'm a retired (Equipment Operator) First Class Petty Officer, I've served with the AmphibCB's 2 Cleveland Ohio, NMCB20 Columbus Ohio, NAVSPECWARGRU TWO out of Little Creek Va. and NMCB 1226 Toledo Ohio.
Six years seven months in the US Army (79 til 86) and the rest of my 21 years in the Bee's. (91 til 05).
And I loved every day of it too and was proud to be called a "SEABEE"!
CM1, USN, RET.
However, I started out as an ADR.
I became a Bee because when I joined the Navy Reserve, there wasn't any Naval Aviation in Montana. The recruiter was a Bee, so I became one. It was either that, or an Engineman. Being a Sniipe didn't turn my crank one bit!

My late BIL served in the SeaBees during WWII and Korea. I think he must have seen more than he cared too because even though he was proud of his service, he refused to talk much about it. I do know that one point, the ship he was on was torpedoed by the Japanese.

It's not uncommon for though who did serve in combat zone and places like it to not want to talk about it. It's the ones who brag and boater about what they supposedly did, that I question .
God Bless him and I'm proud that he was one of MY forefathers in the Bee's.
Yes I did hear from SVA headquarters and am in the process of locating Seabee veterans to form an "Island".If anyone knows of Seabee veterans in the Wilmington/Southport North Carolina area, have them contact me on bsraver@atmc.net or call 910-443-3051 .Bill sraver

Earthbound, he would occasionally talk about runways and the like that they built, but I never even found out what ship he was on when it was torpedoed. It must have been bad, because he disliked July 4th intensely. He re-lived that horror everytime the fireworks started.
