Has anyone heard about this?

When I signed up for the Montgomery GI bill, I was told I cannot covnvert to the post 9/11. Now I'm told this is changing.

I would look myself but the internet connection is very slow here at the airport...

It depends on several factors.

Here is the Post-9/11 GI Bill (chapter 33) Eligibility Estimator helps determine if you are eligible for chapter 33 and the amount of benefits you may receive if you are eligible: Post 9/11 GI Bill - (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs)

I also changed mine in 2010, but it didn't do me much good. Make sure it's worth while to change. Don't just assume that Post 9/11 must be better.

For example, I served from '98 to '02. I got out in August of '02. Had I got out in September of '02 my benefits would have been substantially more, but because I got out less than one year after 9/11 they were not.

Just do the research for your situation and ask the questions before you switch. You can't switch back.

yep, always do your research before signing something away.

i used up my chapter 31 last year, and am now finishing one more year on the chapter 33. the key, i was told, was that i had to entirely finish my chapter 31 first and then change. that gets me 4 years total.

if i had switched over to the chapter 33 before completely finishing the chapter 31, they would have only given me the remainder of 31's time.

beats the hell out of me why they do it this way, but i'm just thankful i'm getting it. putting it to good use too, with a dual degree BS in digital media (animation) and BFA art (illustration).

Sorry guys, when I made this thread...I was a little backwards.....

Anyway, if you choose CH33, you are not able to go back to CH30. This is where I was confused......

Sorry if I confused anyone...

But, I have now went from CH30 to CH33, I am going to a private college with a cap of $17,500 a school year, however, if I go above the cap this school is a Yellow Ribbon school and they will pay for everything above my cap....

So Bachelors in Technical Management ...here I come!!!!!!!!!!!13 classes....
