My father served in the Navy in the mid-late '50's and has since lost his DD-214. Can anyone tell me the best way to go about getting a replacement? I realize there are many privacy issues and concerns to deal with but I'd like to try my best to recover this document for him if possible. Thanks in advance.
I would also check the local courthouse....if your dad put his DD214 there, most anyone can get it and would be considered a document open to the public...unless he restriced it....
It can never hurt to ask...that's how we got my dad's....
Thank you for the info, gang. I appreciate it! And, thank you so much for your service!!
