I'm curious. What is the difference in the Army Cadets of America and the U S Naval Sea Cadet Corps? Do they both help a young person who may want to join the military after high school?
Along with Devil Pups, and Civil Air Patrol; they all give a youth experience in uniform. On-bases, and hands-on with military facilities and equipment.
If they later decide to enlist, it may give them some boost in fitting into being servicemember.
I did 3 years in Sea Cadets in high school. It was fun for me.
It helped me to understand my options a lot better when I enlisted. I was able to work with the system to get into the exact career field that I wanted.
My boys are sea cadets. One is 15 and did boot camp this past summer. The other is 13 and we dropped him off for boot camp today.
They just love it. They have been exposed to wonderful vets ; have done honor guards, have escorted Tuskagee Airmen at their ceremony, have escorted vets at the Medal of Honor in Gettysburg this past summer.
They have learned gun safety, have recreated different war scenes, have been in Humvees, have been on war ships.
I think it is a wonderful experience that will stand to them as they get older. Also it helps them not to get bored and get into crazy things.
