Military folks are trained to work through a chain of command and not go immediately to the top ----you try to work with the lowest level person first then his/her supervisor, and so forth.

Family members aren't. The son of a Korea vet who can't get an appointment isn't going to think about the chain of command. He's going to call his congressman and say, "My dad is sick and the VA won't help!"

If your really sick go to your cottin pickin local hospital . Get an advantage program in addition to VA
coverage and STOP relying on an overtaxed underfunded VA system. The media hype coupled
with ignorant lay relatives and in some cases simply friends of veterans need to shut the heck up.
Any lose of life based on a waiting period is not appropriate I realize but this entire matter has been
exaggerated, embellished, and is a major unrecognized security risk for our nation and veterans!
The VA is the number ONE healthcare system in the world!! Nothing even comes close and the
private sector or corporate chains have people dying like flies based on the exact reasons charged
by whistle blowers and media fools!! As for the younger vets we need legislation to allow them to
go to a local hospital during a event or serious response to their health issue.

Obama should just issue an executive order and put every veteran under tri care same as all retirees and just close down the VA, let the free market sort it out...

The president can't appropriate the funds for Tri-Care that would cost, and he can't just turn off the VA. Congressionally appropriated money has to stay in the pots into which it was appropriated. Tri-Care is DoD money--he can't order that money to be spent on purposes mandated for the VA...not even by executive order.

Sec'y Shinseki has been forced out. Resigned.

What bothers me about this is that the Commission on Veterans Affairs...Congressman....the Board of Directors of the VA...have been pointing fingers instead of taking responsibility.

That is wrong. These men failed as much as anyone in the system. Where are their resignations?

Now everyone will be dusting his hands and saying, "Well, our job is done!"

The VA medical system has been seriously problematical for two generations, and if nobody is looking any deeper than what has occured only under Shinseki, they will not get to the root of the problem.

The VA is an $87.5 Billion mafia and with Shenseki gone this new banker will get eaten alive by them.

It's a sad day for veterans.

What's needed is outside investigations; if the IG worked, we wouldn't have had this story broken by Fox news.

SHUT IT DOWN!
