Unfortunately, Alaska just puts a small American flag on your license. The first ones had a V superimposed over the flag, but that was deemed to violate flag etiquette, so it was removed. Most people couldn't even tell you what the flag is there for. I wish they'd just put "Veteran" on there, like some states do.

I've had people tell me I should still get a VA veteran's ID card. I have no idea why I would need one. Besides my multiple DD-214s and my NGB-22, I have my DD-2. That's more than enough.

New Mexico printed a small "VETERAN" on my license... But that's OK.

When my husband retired, he just wanted to look like a civilian. He didn't want anyone to thank him for his service. He signed the papers and they paid him. He did enjoy the Home Depot 10% discount, but never looked for or wanted the others.

The branch of service logo on plates here is so small you can hardly see it.

The 'branch of service' logo, (in CA), is also a sticker and I had to jump through all kinds of hoops to get it replaced because it faded so much from the sun's UV rays. It seems the last go-around, they finally figured it out because the logo was still pretty good after a couple of years. My new Idaho vet plates are really nice.
