Been To Bahrain on TDY lately? (Navy, civilian, bonus, personnel)

I have friend with a tentative 18mo job offer. She is understandably nervous.
I've been to Kuwait, not as a civilian. I had a lot of info and encouragement I could give her, but nothing Bahrain specific.
Does anyone have any experience over there?

I don't have direct experience, however Bahrain, does not have any clear State Department or UK Foreign Office warnings other than you should avoid big demonstrations and crowds, and Bahrain is Level 1 which means exercise normal precautions.

Bahrain has you will probably already know has good relations with the US and UK both of whom have naval bases there.

The only other thing I would add, is that Bahrain has cut off relations with nearby Qatar and that anyone showing sympathy for Qatar on social media or by any other means of communication is committing an offence.

I have an acquaintance that goes there a lot. He loves it. I've also known some teachers who went there.

Is this job contract work for a specific time period? Do they live in separate housing designated for contracted personnel?

I also note that you wrote "she". I had a friend that taught in SA that made some comments about the government and the way they treated women. She was on the next flight out and lost end of contract bonus money.

It's a federal tdy. She's federal and this will be a great boost for her resume!
