It's not poor at all in terms of jobs and job opportunities. The labor force participation rate continues to improve. Inflation is high, but has little to no effect on recruiting.

That's too bad. I thought they were really good ads.

Same thing happened when Bruce Springsteen got a DUI right after making Jeep commercials for Super Bowl. Surely the Army had a clause in Jon’s contract and taxpayers won’t be paying for shelved commercials.

Default Army to try two year enlistments again

In a time when the Army is missing it’s recruiting mark by 25%, the SecArmy said shorter enlistments are the answer. So two year enlistments might become a thing again after last used during the Iraq/Afghanistan campaigns. The typical 3 or 4 year stints also include time in reserves and national guard, which is seen as too much for the current generation.

Default Another study completed on military recruitment crisis

This year the Army is below last year’s record low recruiting shortfall. This is even after the Army requested to cut end strength by 20,000 Army soldiers, down to only 450,000. Just published last week. Report gives reasons and highlights that the unhealthy youth and low unemployment have not stopped successful recruiting efforts in the past.

The delta identified in polling here is over politicization of senior leaders and the programs they put into place.

Funding for the equity, chasing extremism, drag shows, lowering of promotion requirements to incorporate diversity, and lowering physical fitness standards are all the new problem areas. Surprisingly the sexual assaults and suicides continue to rise despite the pouring of millions of dollars.

Most impacted are the combat arms career fields, which are the most significantly understaffed in the Army.

The Heritage Foundation is a right wing think tank. I don't regard any report on any subject from them as either authoritative or independent. Reading the report its obvious that it is ideologically driven. The last section where they criticize mandating the vaccines for Covid 19 and "not being willingly to issue many exemptions" told me all I needed to know. Whether the vaccine prevents the spread of disease in large numbers or not it does lessen the impact of the disease on those who get it. This is clearly of major importance in guaranteeing readiness of our military forces. The report is just crap.

I didn’t see you had already posted this report before I made a new thread on it. But I agree with this report.

Of course you don’t. Stick with Rand and the dozens of other left wing think tanks.

Is there any recent (in 2023) reports on readiness from any of the left wing think tanks?

Vaccine mandate for military and civilians has been limited now for over a month. Nothing like having a policy overturned to demonstrate how wrong it was from the beginning. The majority of military are under 30 and have extremely low death rates from Covid; both unvaxed and vaxed. Now the recruiting doors can reopen to 40% of the under-25 crowd that is currently unvaxed because they are in the extremely low risk category.
