I'm up for my first re-enlistment and trying to obtain SRB along with NEC 9516. I'm at a very small command and the Career Counselor here told me the NEC 9516 (Brig Counselor) isn't available because it's not under the STAR Career School listing. I thought schools listed under the CSL means you qualify got automatic advancement to 3rd or 2nd Class. Am I wrong about this?
Anyway, I tried getting the NEC by using School as a Incentive option, but was told that I can either have the school or the SRB. (Which doesn't make sense because STAR allows you to have both).
Is THERE ANYTHING I can do to get both NEC 9516 and my SRB?
I should mention that I PCS in March for Brig School in San Antonio, the very same place where they house the school for Brig Couselors.
Ugh, I thought the Navy wanted people to learn about their rate.
If he wants that NEC and it is where he is going talk to the detailer he might be able to help.
