It is possible, there's just a very lengthy process involved, I've heard up to a year. I knew one guy who tried to go from the reserves to active and they ended up not making it happen for some reason or another.
I believe you can switch your MOS, but it is hard to do on your first enlistment. My advice would be to find a nearby reserve unit with MPs and request a transfer there and then try to go active from there. If not, your best bet is to wait until reenlistment time.
It wouldn't hurt to ask your chain of command though.
